Dunkin' Donuts Steps Up Its Summer Game With A Totally New Coffee
Dunkin' Donuts tends to know what it's doing with madcap iced coffee and Coolatta flavors. The chain has added Baskin Robbins-inspired pistachio to your morning java and whirled mango into your frozen fruit drinks. But sometimes it's fallen behind in the espresso category, offering a macchiato for the very first time in September. And now the brand is just catching up on the cold-brew trend, pouring the super-concentrated coffee at select locations in Massachusetts.
Back in the fall, we reported that Dunks had been working to perfect its cold-brew recipe for the last five years. Now the beloved iced coffee is finally coming to fruition for the brand, beginning with a testing phase.
According to brand representative Janet Rock, Dunkin' Donuts' cold brew coffee is steeped in cool water overnight under refrigeration, which makes it sweeter and smoother than traditionally brewed coffee—because heat draws out acidity and bitter tannins.
